The legacy of this event is that after the attack America launched the war against terror. The objective of the war against terrorism is aimed to eliminating international terrorism, 10yrs later Osama Bin Laden the leader of Al-Qaeda was murdered in Pakistan by U.S military. People still mourn the deaths of friends and family that died in the terrorist attack. I don't think the U.S and mainly the families affected will ever recover from the traumatic event seeing people jump off the building because they didn't want to burn to death would have been devastating.
