Psychological theme : what is expected

Physical focus : which areas used most/ energy stored
Oral stage
Physical : mouth, lips, tongue
Psychological : Expect everything to be done for them and needs are met to a certain level. Not to fast or automatically.
Adult : Too independent, too dependent. Need to be independent but ask for help when needed.
birth to 18 months
Anal stage
Physical: Develop ego, energy on anus. Learn to control with potty training.. Increasing demands for self-control and obedience.
Psychological : the child must figure out how and how much to control himself, and how and how much to be controlled by the authority
18 months to 3-4 years
Adult : Have no self control or obsessive, rigid and need to defy authority.
Phallic stage
Physical : Develops superego. Coming to term with sex differences.
Psychological : The sum of identification from both parents makes superego. Identification - Taking on many of the same-sex parent's attitudes, values, and ways of relating to the opposite sex.
3-4 years to 7 years
Adult : an overdeveloped or underdeveloped ego. Too rigid moral code or does not have moral code at all.
Physical : The genitals
7 years to 12 years. Learns skills that will help in later life
