        Males
        
        The larynx grows as voice deepens
        
        Hair on face
        
        shoulders widen and chest muscles grow
        
        hair grows on chest
        
        narrow hips
        
        the penis gets larger and the scrotum grows as the testes get bigger
        
        Pubic hair and underarm hair
        
        Females
        
        Narrower shoulders
        
        Hips get broader as fat is deposited and pelvis widens
        
        Breasts develop and nipples grow
        
        Pubic and underarm hair
        
        However puberty can also have some behavioral and emotional side effects:
        
        aggression (boys)
        
        maternal instincts (girls)
        
        mood swings
        
        Become more independent of their parents
        
        have strong feelings of sexual attraction
        
        more responsibility for their behavior
