organising: involves ensuring there is a clear structure within the firm to facilitate the smooth running of the business.
Organising structures
1.Functional structure
most common/divided into departments based on functions they preform/each department has a manager who is responsible for achieving the department goals.
benefits:
Specialization:concentrates exclusively on one job(becomes expert)-job gets done quickly and to a high standard
Accountability:director of each department is responsible for everything-easy to identify the source of any errors and eradicate them quickly
Clarity:everyone knows who to repot to and who is responsible for what-speeds up communication(saves time)
-
disadvantages:
Isolation:people in each department may know and care little about what goes on in other departments.
Co-ordination:it can be difficult to get all the departments to pull together in the same direction.
