One external influence that causes Charlie to change is the experiment that he takes part in. The experiment changes all of Charlie's way of life. It changes the way he learns, the way he thinks, how he feels, what he does, and how he treats others/how he makes others feel. For example, before the experiment, Charlie is friendly, kind, and sympathetic. After the experiment, Charlie does things that he wouldn't have done before the operation like, confront Gimpy for stealing and asking out Ms. Kinnian. Charlie is also arrogant because he can now learn better and faster. He explains these topics to Ms. Kinnian, but she doesn't understand but Charlie keeps talking.
