Characteristics of electrical signals
It is an electrical magnitude whose value depends on time.
ELECTRICAL SIGNAL
C ommon features
Continuous and alternate signals
CONTINUOUS SIGNAL
Continuous signals are those that always have the same sign, that is, always positive or null, or always negative or null.
ALTERNATE SIGNAL
Alternate signals are those that vary the sign of their magnitude. It can never be constant.
Constant and variant signals
They are those signals that do not vary in time. Such is the case of the voltage at the terminals of a battery.
Peak to Peak Amplitude:
It is the difference between
the maximum value and the minimum value of a signal.
Middle value:
is the average of all
values of a signal taken in a cycle. For
symmetric signals like the sinusoidal, the value
medium is null.
Peak amplitude
It is the maximum value that
has a signal, considered from the value ‘0’.
Effective value:
is the equivalent value of
a constant continuous signal capable of
develop the same power as the signal
periodic.
Lag
:
when a signal is compared
with a reference (for example another signal), it is
possible to see a horizontal shift; I know
is called the offset angle or simply
phase shift to the value of this offset measured in
sexagesimal degrees.
TEST SIGNALS
Rectangular and square signs
They are normally used to determine measurements, implement controls.
They are characterized by having only two possible values. You can define amplitude, period, frequency and phase shift.
Triangular Signs are signs that have a constant growth and decrease. If both slopes are equal the signal will be called triangular; otherwise it would be called a saw signal.
Sine signal
It is the most common signal, a double symmetry can be attributed to this signal: one with respect to the time axis and the other with respect to the time axis, and another with respect to the midpoint of the wave.
