Extinction
Hunting and fishing
humans hunt animals for food, ivory, fur, skin and lesure, killing off species
-
Food webs changing
Producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, tertiary consumer
If eagles are hunted, snakes will increase in numbers. if mice are killed, snakes will decrease in population. If snakes become extinct, eagles will loose food and become extinct, and mice will increase in numbers
-
Habitat destruction
Humans are destroying natural habitats for the benefit of resources, urbanisation and agreculture

Selective Breeding
1: select parents with the best characteristics.
2:breed them together
3: select 2 best puppies
4: repeat for many generations until desired characteristics have been reached

theories
Lamarks
acquired charicteristics: offspring would have the same gained charicteristics of their parents. False

Darwins

no-one believed him as his ides went against religion, no evidence of genes or DNA, people did not want to think they evolved from monkeys

Permineralisation 1. The animal dies
- Soft body decomposes
- The skelington is covered in sediment
- the skelington is replaces by minerals. This is called Permineralisation
DNA
DNA is a polymer made up of two strands forming a double helix. The DNA in structures are called chromosomes. A gene is a small section of DNA on a chromosome. Each gene codes for a particular sequence of amino acids, to make a specific protein. The genome of an organism is the entire genetic material of that organism. the whole human genome has now been studied and this will have a great importance for medicine in the future
