Appellate Courts
Judges hear appeals, these can involve points of law and decisions may create precedents.

Crown Court
Judge decides law, jury decides verdict, judge passes sentence.
Magistrates Court
Judge decides law, verdict and passes sentence.

Removal of Judges
Superior Judges can only be removed by the monarch following a petition from both Houses of Parliament.

Separation of Powers
The theory states that there are three primary functions of the state and that the only way to safeguard the liberty of citizens is by keeping those three functions separate.
The three functions are;
