DIABETIC FOOT
DEFINITION
It is any long term chronic complication of diabetic mellitus
It is a foot that exhibits any pathology that result directly from diabetis
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Over time it cause damage to nerves and blood vessels
There is then less feeling on the foot
Blood glucose levels are high
So you may not feel cuts and blisters on the foot
It will then result to foot injuries and ulcers
Due to damage of nerves there is no blood and oxygen supply to feet
CAUSES
Irritated foot
High blood sugar
Poor circulation
wounded feet
Nerve damage
NURSING CARE PLAN
Lack of acceptance of diagnose
Provide cancelling to patient
Explain diagnose to patient
Provide assurance to patient
Asses glucose level before and after meals

Teach patient importance of hygiene

HEALTH EDUCATION
advise patient to bath feet with look warm water
Cut nails carefully
Be gentle when bathing patient feet
Inspect patient foot daily
Advise patient to wear clean dry socks
DIET
Provide dairy food with less fat
Food low in carbohydrates
Eat half a grain daily
Eat food rich in proteins
Advise patient with plenty of fruits and vegetables
PHARMACOLOGY
