TORQUE AND STATIC EQUILIBRIUM :pencil2:
What is torque?
For rotational motion, the torque is what is most directly related to the motion, not the force.
Torque is created when the line of action of a force does not pass the center of rotation.
The line of action is an imaginary line that follows the direction of a force and passes through its point of application.
Moment of Inertia, I
Depends on
The mass of the object
The distance between the mass and the axis of rotation
The axis which the object is rotate
The greater the torque, the greater the angular acceleration
Angular Momentum, L
Angular Momentum = Moment Inertia x Angular Velocity
Conservation of Angular Momentum
The total angular momentum of a system remains constant if the net external torque on the system is zero.
Rotational Kinetic Energy
A rotation object (collection of i points with mass) has a rotational kinetic energy
Conservation of Energy
Translational Kinetic Energy
Rotational Kinetic Energy
Vibration Kinetic Energy
The law of conservation of energy state that the total amount of energy is an isolated system remain constant. A consequence of this law is that energy cannot be created or destroyed.
Meaning
r = radius
F = force
\theta = angle between F and the lever arm
