Deployment Models
- The growing popularity of cloud computing has given rise to different types of cloud service deployment models + strategies, depending on the degree of desired outsourcing needs
- Deployment models of cloud computing are categorised based on their location
- Private cloud, Public cloud + Hybrid cloud

- Used inside the organisation relating customer solutions
- A cloud-based infrastructure used by stand-alone organisations
- Offers greater control over security
- Data is backed up by a firewall + internally, + can be hosted internally or externally
- Good for organisations that have high security requirements, high management demands + availability requirements

- Have internet access using standardised services
- Provided on a network for public use
- Customers have no control over the location of the infrastructure
- Based on a shared cost model for all users, or a pay-per-user policy
- Good for organisations w growing/fluctuating demands
- Popular for web applications, webmail and storage of non-sensitive data
Hybrid Cloud
- Combination of private + public cloud, but each can remain as separate entities
- Internal or external providers can provide resources
- Ideal for scalability, flexibility and security
Example: an organisation may use the private cloud to secure their data whilst interacting w their customers using the public cloud
The Ongoing Trend

- Today we can connect everything digitally to cloud computing: it provides a whole new world of jobs, applications, servers + platforms
- Most CIO's are convinced on the benefits of cloud computing
- Public cloud makes up the majority of cloud adoption, but private cloud is also growing
Uniqueness
- Physical server can be split into any number of virtual servers
