SCIENCE: Show and tell: Electricity
Electricity is a form of energy
Electricity Safety
Keep things that use electricity away from water
Because water is a good conductor
Do not play near power lines
Do not pull on cords to unplug things
Do not touch cords that have wires showing
Do not plug too many things into outlets
Where is electricity coming from
Most electricity is not from batteries
Most of electricity comes from a power plant
Power plant is where they make electricity
And to make electricity, you need to have energy first
Example: coal, solar energy, wind energy...
The power plants will send electricity through wires and then go to homes, schools... And go through walls.
Then you just need to plug in and you have electricity
Why don't we get hurt when we touch the wires that has electricity?
Because those wires are made from plastic and plastic is not a good conductor so we won't get hurt
Electricity is a way to power anything
For example
Flashlight
The flashlight uses electricity
The electricity is from the batteries inside the flashlight
Electrical clock
Uses electricity
A neat little system is where help you to see how electricity works
First we have some batteries that have chemical can make electricity
So the batteries will send electricity through the wires and come to the light ball and go back to the batteries
We will have brake to let the electricity goes through
If we switch on the brake, the electricity goes
I we switch off the brake, the electricity stops
Lamp
Also uses electricity
Electricity is when you have a flow of energy
Like lightening
