INFLUENCE OF STUDENT'S LEARNING STYLES ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INSTRUCTIONAL INTERVENTIONS

INTRODUCTION

SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY
:red_flag: Student - type of learning
:red_flag: Teacher - student behaviour
METHODOLOGY(HOW DO GET THE DATA)
Participants and Design :pen: 56 undergraduate student took part in the experiment to conduct a phase of preflection on the subsequent problem-solving task
METHOD
DOMAIN SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE TEST
:star: eleven multiple-choice questions with four possible solutions
ILS
:star: Index of Learning Styles (ILS; Felder and Spurlin, 2005) was used to assess the
students’ individual learning styles
:star: Each of the four ILS dimensions consists of eleven items. Each item
possesses two response possibilities (a or b)
PROBLEM STATEMENT
:fire: research contributes to answer the question whether learning/cognitive styles of students
:fire:The prompts were embedded in a problem-based self-regulated learning environment.
:FIRE: The generic prompt included a general suggestion for a preactional phase of forethoughts, planning, and activation on the subsequent problem solving process and according self-regulation mechanisms
RESULT
:lock:learning styles did not transfer into
higher quality problem solutions and an increase in declarative knowledge
:lock: directed prompts did not work beneficially for their target group
:lock: present learning styles on the other
hand, still would result in differences regarding our dependent variables.
