How can school improve...
Learners aren't equipped with the knowledge of economics and financial literacy.
Learning about it adds unneeded pressure to students
It's a topic that is quite challenging to teach as a standard teacher, so it's much better to have a person that is specialized in these areas to teach.
People have a lack of understanding on mental health
Mental health: It's quite a touching and sensitive subject for a lot of people, it's not fair for those that have to sit through it trying to get over the sensitivity.
Mental health: Young children shouldn't learn about it. It's a concept that is complicated and isn't very easy to understand if you don't have any relation to it.
Health overall: Some cultures don't like their children knowing about it and parents don't want their kids to get exposed to things and then have their kids start freaking out about everything.
Some people might get ideas from learning about this, overexaggerate, and misdiagnose themselves with depression or anxiety or whatever.
Kids don't get educated on the political system
It is AWFULLY complicated
Children shouldn't be forced to learn it as most will think it's boring and will not be interested in understanding more about it.
Politics is a very debatable subject, lots of people have their own opinions about different people and different systems.
School systems should provide kids with information on how to vote.
They need to be of legal age, so why teach them how to vote in school?
You simply read people's names and tick a box. It's not that hard.
Apparently it's more important to learn about NZ's history in the 1800's then the current events in the world.
Current events can be read in your own time on newspapers, news reports, websites etc.
Who's going to teach and pass on our culture to the other generations or even other parts of the world.
LOTS OF SUBJECTS SHOULD ALSO BE TAUGHT THROUGH PARENTS SO THEY SHARE THEIR FAMILY VIEWS.
Basic first aid needs to be taught regularly as it is a key life skill
Basic first aid can include dealing with some pretty brutal scenes like big gashes and having to start compressions and mouth-to-mouth
It's not everyday that you need to perform life-saving first aid on someone, and even so, it's too much for a kid to handle and it's easier for them to just call for help.
Kids can often get scared by the thought of them being stuck in a situation where they have to use advanced first aid.
Schools should raise awareness around domestic violence
Domestic violence is something that needs be dealt with through police.
Once again, like mental health it is a very sensitive and touching subject to some, especially those that have to deal with.
Some teachers aren't trained to teach subjects like this.
