My opinion on this issue

Obama Administration fails to take ownership of the incidents surrounding the story thus further clouding the issue.
FBI has full awareness of what Davies has already said in a sworn statement but fails to inform CBS of the lie. This also creates a lack of trust from the American people.
Dylan Davies is both a liar and a thief. Producing false stories for profit and taking money to publish a book based on the lie.
Lara Logan loses all credibility as a journalist as she has produced this false story as truth and has damaged her reputation.

How could Balance in research and reporting tactics have made a difference in the outcome of what was reported?
The government assists the media with a truthful story thus creating trust and credibility with the public.
Lara Logan could have discussed how this story ALMOST came to be and brought light to teach others to avoid false narratives
CBS and Logan vets the story, they avoid releasing it or tell a different one to inform the public.
Perhaps the controversy with Clinton could have gone a different way as there would have been less murkiness in the information.
