        Learners will read a step-by-step process of creating a water purification system. They will read aloud in their smaller groups.
        Learners will be journaling their progress as they work on their purification model. They will revise the basics of journaling before they start.
      - Natural Science and Technology
        
        Learners will be introduced to the design process which is a vital aspect in the subject of Technology
        
        Before they can start the activity, they will be required to understand the needs set out in the activity as well as how to use the Design Process in an accurate way.
        
        They will be taught on the purification process of water which has many aspects such as the methods that could be used to purify water, which method benefits the environment around them.
        
        Learners will be required to incorporate Mathematics and English into this activity along with Natural Sciences and Technology.
        
        Learning Outcomes: NS 5.4, NS 8.11
      - Mathematics
        
        Learners will be able to: Practically build and Calculate Capacity, Volume and Surface Area. They will have to calculate how much painting is needed to coat the cement if 2 layers are needed for surface area. The learners will calculate Volume of the container to store the water. The learners are given 4 shapes (Still to decide?) to store the water and discuss each shape and conclude which shape will best fit the case. Also use the given height, length and width to calculate the volume each shape can hold. Include Ratio when they have to calculate how long the water will last. (MPA 16; MPA 17; MPA 18; MPA 5; PR 29; PR 27; PR 28)

        MODEL: Learners will physically build a model of the water purification system. The learners have to make sure that the final model is a working system. They will be tested on whether it works.
      - Resources Needed:
        
        Step-by-step technological process notes that the learners created in their groups.
        
        Some of the materials needed for the learners could be: Plastic Bottles, Soil, Small rocks, Plastic piping and Glue
        
        Laptops for journals.
    - - Activity 4B: Formal Assessment
        
        Write a persuasive essay. Reflect on what you have experienced and what you want to express and to express your point of view on the unit.
    - - A2 Poster (Cardboard) where learners follow the design process to create their own water purification system. A spread sheet as planner to monitor the progress and for record keeping purposes.
- - - - The installation of rain water tanks
        Create a Word document and list the pro's and con's of the purification system.
        
        Activity 1 A:
        
        Design your own water purification system using a PowerPoint presentation and Paint 3D.
        
        Activity 2 B: Formal Assessment
        
        Write a letter to the residence of JacaCamp informing them of the new water purification system listing the following:
        
        The advantages of having multiple water sources.
        
        Explain how the system works
        
        Explain your plan on where you will set up the stations.

        Socratic Seminar planning concerning the essential needs of temporary housing.
        
        Activity 1B: Formal assessment
        
        Make a grid. Use the grid to plot the following

        /Energy provision
        /Food provision
        
        Activity 1 C:
        
        Murals for the houses/blocks of accommodation
        Design a mural for the houses/blocks of accommodation. Make sure it is colorful and esthetically pleasing.
