Ms. Gentry's Design Studio
Design Software
My space will include design software. This way the students can use this software to create their ideas and then implement them by printing out their ideas and designs.
3-D Printer
My space will also include a 3-D printer so the students can have their creative ideas that they made through the design software printed in real life. This will help show them different skills like accountability and maturity while using a device such as a 3-D printer.
Digital Storytelling
Because we already have Chrome books in our possession, it would be useful and beneficial to the students to use them to unlock the world of digital storytelling. The students know how to use microphones and headphones already because of iReady and iStation. The students can create read alouds fo them to listen to later, make their creative written stories come alive, or even create a fun talk show for the class!

Bits of Junk Prototype
My space will have a 'bits of junk' area in the classroom. It is important for students to be able to physically build their ideas and be able to show them, take pictures with them, or even take them home. This can include legos (or other building bricks), toothpicks, cotton swabs, and other things that can make ideas. These can be their prototypes for their product that they can print on the 3-D printer.
3-D Scanner
Adding a 3-D Scanner into my classroom space would make the students be able to scan their 3-D models and be able to mold and shape them into something else on their computers. They can use the design software that I will already have in the space along with the Chrome books to be able to work on their creative piece that also is compatible with the 3-D Printer.
The philosophy for my space is for students to be able to create their ideas into something that is tangible. This will help them learn that their ideas can become real by using these steps like design software, 3-D printers and scanners, and a prototype area. The students should feel empowered to use these tools in a correct and educational way to broaden their learning and view of what they learn.
