Family in Romeo & Juliet.
A group of people related by blood or marriage. Specifically in Romeo & Juliet there are two families; The Montague's and Capulets.
Capulet Family
Juliet
The daughter of Capulet and Lady Capulet. Juliet is young and had thought a little about marriage and love, but she grows up quickly upon falling in love with Romeo, the son of her family’s great enemy. Because the two families are enemies she has to meet Romeo secretly. Juliet’s closest friend and confidant is her nurse, though she’s willing to shut the Nurse out of her life the moment the Nurse turns against Romeo, this shows how much she is in love with him.
Lord Capulet
The patriarch of the Capulet family, father of Juliet, husband of Lady Capulet. he is also enemies with the Montague family. He loves his daughter, though he is not well acquainted with Juliet’s thoughts or feelings. He commands respect and propriety, He really wanted Juliet to marry Paris.
Nurse
The nurse is the mother figure for Juliet who served as a type of nanny for her. She is also a funny person and is well trusted by Juliet. However, she is concerned about Juliets rushed love for Romeo, her concerns lead to a strain on her relationship with Juliet.
Montague Family
Romeo
He is the Montague’s only son, a romantically-inclined young man desperately in love with a lady called Rosaline----until he meets Juliet, the daughter of his family’s enemy.
Balthasar
Romeo’s dedicated servant, who brings Romeo the news of Juliet’s death, unaware that her death is a ruse(trick).
Montague
Romeo’s father, the patriarch of the Montague clan and bitter enemy of Capulet. At the beginning of the play, he is chiefly concerned about Romeo’s melancholy.
Other Characters
Prince Escalus
He is the Prince of Verona. He holds authority over the Montague and Capulet families who are feuding. He first punishes Capulet and Montague for the quarrel between Tybalt, Benvolio, and a handful of servants.
Friar Lawrence
Friar Laurence is a friar who plays the part of a wise advisor to Romeo and Juliet, along with aiding in major plot developments. Alone, he foreshadows the later, tragic events of the play with his soliloquy about plants and their similarities to humans.
Count Paris
Count Paris is a fictional character in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. He is a suitor of Juliet. He is handsome, wealthy, and a kinsman to Prince Escalus
