Power
'he unseam'd from the nave to the chaps'
M capable of brutality and overpowering to get what he wants
possible he believes he needs to gain power to become a man fully
verb - 'unseamed' - M is meticulous and skilled at what he does. When he does a job he does it well
when he speaks to the witches for the first time - 'seated heart knocks at his ribs' and he knows that 'if good why do I yield to that suggestion'
as M gets more power he craves it even more
at the start when he has no titles he doesn't desire any power
no signs of corruption and then gets progressively worse
M uses a euphemism 'that' for murder to keep his conscious clear
he has morals at the start and then after Duncan murder he loses them as power intensifies
'tis better thee without than he within' - power makes him kill his good friend BQ
power has taken over his morals and actions and he is too deep to go back now
LM uses emotional blackmail to manipulate M - 'pluck it from my nipple' + 'dashed the brains out' of an infant
this makes LM look more masculine and makes M look weak and vulnerable
violent verbs suggest her desire and passion to gain more power and this would shock a Jacobean audience
LM even harm something as innocent as a baby - shows that she is willing to do anything in order to gain power
She is manipulating him into doing murder which is the opposite of what they should be like as a couple - should be loving
seems their desire for power has outweighed their loving but this is not always the case - 'my dearest partner of greatness'
M being manipulated by the witches first has made this happen
In the end the audience should see that power in the wrong hands in dangerous
M shouldn't have had more than Thane of Cawdor as that is what the natural order said
They both wanted more and that led them to do things they shouldn't have, which led to their inevitable demise
