The Enlightenment

Carlos III
Created new sewage
and water systems,street lighting,
pavements,hospitals,museum,botanical gardens.
Streets became widen
fountains and monuments were built.
Cities became more
hygienic and safer.
Supported the development
of industry,agriculture and trade.
Did a lot to modemodernise
Spain.
Felipe V
The monarch has
unlimited power.
Centralised the government
and created a new laws for the whole Empire.
Establish a new way
of government called an absolute monarchy.

The Spanish war of Succession
Started as a civil war but became an
international war.
Ended with the signing of the Treaty
of Utrech.The Bourbon dynasty replaced the Habsburg.
Lasted from 1701 until 1714.
Felipe V became the king of Spain.
CarlosII died leaving no heir son the
French Bourbons and the Austrian Habsburg
claimed the Spanish throne.
Spain lost territorys in the Netherlands
and Italy(given to Austria)and Gibraltar and Menorca
(given to the British).
