VIRUSES
viruses are everywhere
viruses are designed to infect all life
millions of viruses every second, we:
ingest
inhale
take in
shell made of protein
DNA-RNA with enzymes for replication and manipulation genetic materials
piece-strand of genetic info (DNA-RNA/ single-double stranded) → viruses genome
the help of molecular machines→ replicate
replicate → infect cells
outer protein coat (covered in small molecular receptors) → blind and join membrane of a cell
once the virus is integrated into the cell’s DNA, the cell replicates its DNA to manufacture proteins
the virus takes over the cell ribosomes, and creates new viruses which fill the cells
leave the cells and infect new hosts
Ex:
influenza virus
spread from one person to another through the exposure of the large respiratory droplets
direct contact
airborne dispersal
an infective agent able to multiply only within the living cells of a host.
