RECOGNITION

RTI or response to intervention

tier two (intensive interventions)
tier three (more consistent rigourous intervention)
tier one or ptimary level of prevention
EVALUATION and ELIGIBILITY
parent/guardian consent before evaluation
Evaluation results determine child's eligibility
evaluation must be completed within 60 of parent/guardian approval
INITIATION OF IEP (Individualized Education Program)
contact the participants, including the parents;
notify parents early enough to make sure they have an opportunity to attend;
schedule the meeting at a time and place agreeable to parents and the school;
tell the parents the purpose, time, and location of the meeting;
tell the parents who will be attending; and
tell the parents that they may invite people to the meeting who have knowledge or special expertise about the child.

child can begin to receive appropriate services
Feedback and follow up
progress shared with parents and professionnals involved in the IEP
IEP reviewed once a year or as requested by parents/legal guardians orby the school

discrepancy in the student’s academic, social/emotional, behavioral, and/or physical ability and his or her age may signal the need for additional academic or behavioral supports.
