Sampling equipment
How to use?
- attach a weighted line to the sampler
- lower the sampler into desired sampling depth
- a sharp pull upwards will remove the cork from the bottle, allowing the sample to enter
- a restricting device, eg. the cap with a hole drilled may be used to restrict the filling rate
How to use?
- attach a round bottle and a sampling line to the cage number
- lower the sampler into desired samplinhg depth
- a sharp pull upwards will remove the cork from the bottle, allowing the sample to enter
Types of sampling done
- Open sampling
(taking tradition samples within a tank via an open gauge hatch or guaging access pint)
-
- Closed sampling
(taking samples within the tank under close conditions whch do not need to release any tank contents or vapour)
- Spot sampling
(taking samples from a specific location in tank or from flowing stram in the pipe at a specific time)
- Running sampling
(samples obtain with an apparatus which accumulates the sample while passing in both directions through the total liquid height)
Manual sampling
Objective: to obtain a samll portion of product that is representative (collect representative sample)

Sampling applications
LNG Sampling
- Liquefied Natural Gas
(Predominantly methane)
Others
- Wet gas sampling
- Gas sampling
- Refined product sampling
Common test
-
- Water content
(Karl Fischer Mositure Analyzer)
- Doctor test
(to check for sulfur present in product)
