Was red as a racehorse, and became a pack animal trained to carry out ammunition for the Anti-Tank company on the 5th Marines in 1952.
Hero's welcome
Military decorations included two purple hearts, hundreds of people were waiting for her in San Francisco when she was shipped from Korea to the U.S in 1954.
Twice promoted to staff sergeant, died in 1968, buried with full military honors but had become a forgotten hero in the decades that followed.
Korean War battle
Played an important role in the final stages of the Korean War. During 5 day bloody battle she made 51 trips to resupply the guns with am mutation on one day alone.
Lifeline
Reckless was bonded through a spiritual connection of love with her Marines. Had a noise and waves of concussions, but endured it all.She was a critical lifeline.
Beer, Candy, Coffee
She would sleep in the Soldiers camp, would eat anything, but especially scrambled eggs and pancakes with a cup of coffee. Loved Hershey bars, coca-cola, and to play poker.
