INVESTIGATION BUGS
(G): Continue to investigate all the bugs in the front playground. Who are they? What do they eat? :check:
Caterpillar song
: revisit the song - dramatic expressions - follow up with Gail as well in the music class (G)
Making Caterpillars:
creating caterpillars and other creatures using recycled paper, googly eyes (JM, others)
What does the real caterpillar eat?:
Observing eaten leaves with magnifiers (G)
What does caterpillar eat in the book??
: Recalling text, counting, differentiation, language of taste, shape - revisit the book for slow and detailed reading. (Continued interest, JM, others)
Let's Make Hungry Caterpillar Fruit Salad
: (Thursday and Friday): Observations of fruits inside out - feeling the texture, explore the language of taste (sweet, tart/sour). Add visuals of each fruit, and continue to play with fruits cards for counting/sorting. (JM, others)
ARCHER'S MOTH
: We are observing the moth that Archer caught at home in the glass jar he brought in. Observe its body, colours. Plan to release it. (AR, G) --> Moth died, now on display

Use of magnifiers, treating specimens for research gently, counting legs, observing body parts
BROOKES ST GREEN TEAM:
We : participate in making our permaculture garden with Ms Ally. This week we will be creating a veg garden bed by cleaning up the bark, adding cardboard layers and collecting sticks. Also observing the growth of our lettuce. We also plan to start observing the growth of the runners we had of our plants in glass jars indoor. Use the jars for observation during meal times as well. SUSTAINABILITY AND INDEPENDENT SKILLS:
We are going to be using a new rubbish system in the foyer, and with that, we are guiding children to use tubs in the silver trolley in disposing non-compostable
OUTDOOR:
Throwing balls, rolling balls, and kicking balls, using a variety of recycled boxes, containers as well as equipment such as cricket bats, colanders. Encourage collaboration. (G) :check:
RACE & TRAINING
: Rory is missing his dad a lot as he is getting ready for his training. To help him cope with this difficult period, we have asked family to bring in memorabilia, photos that he could share with us and keep with him at rest time etc. We also link this to our outdoor play, and think about what his dad does (swimming, running, and riding a bike - triathlon) and we plan our own Brookes Street Ironman! This is also intended to help Rory cope with biting (observed twice in the last week) (RO, G) :check:
WHAT THE IRONMEN EAT
: Strong and healthy bodies come with making good choices. We investigate what Rory's dad eats to make his bodies strong and healthy. How can we make our bodies healthy? What do we need to eat? Add visuals of Rory's Dad's food etc. (RO, G)
OBSERVING GROWING VEGETABLES AND IDEAS FOR MORE
Continue to discuss vegetables - explore them by touching (tomato vines, beans stalks?) for gardening ideas, observation of growing vegetables (lettuce leaves now showing - as of 9 Mar) :check:
SPECIAL MEDALS:
Fine motor skills, artistic experience. Use metal lids, recycled ribbons. We are going to create GARVEY medals to recognise Garvey athletes in participating in the outdoor race (bike, muddy paddle jump, balancing etc.) Sense of belonging, joy of participation
GROUP TIME TOPICS:
Discussion of packing up - with demonstration (G), How can we dance like the Sun and Rain?

WEEKEND STORIES:
Holly coming back and we have been sharing her photos from her trip to South Africa. While continuing to share her photos to help her recall and celebrate her wonderful trip, we are also encouraging others to share their weekend/holiday stories. Lottie is to share a story of her time with nana as she is spending more time with her this year. Tulai bringing her weekend stories to share with the class, too. Vocabulary, family connections, sense of belonging and security. (HH, LC, TL, others)
MARINE ANIMALS
: Georgia loves all things marine animals, and we have been creating ocean with them with lycra. To extend this interest, we will be adding the food that these animals eat (smaller fish, algae, etc) and link that with healthy eating and protecting environment. Also linking ocean-themed songs. (GH)
Fine Motor & Heuristic Experiences
: tongs with blocks - to continue to assist the development, pom poms with bottle caps for colour matching
JUNGLE PLAYDOUGH:
Since her return from Sough Africa, Holly seems to like to spend time in the bush outdoors, hiding amongst the leaves. Can we create a bush play using Safari animals there? (HH) :check: -- PLAYDOUGH AFTER WEDNESDAY 11th for precaution

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S WEEK/QLD WOMEN'S WEEK:
Tulai's family brought in Bilum, made by women in Papua New Guinea to create income for the families. We will touch and feel this wonderful bag, and participate in our own weaving experience. Ms Ally from upstairs could bring in the weaving disk to get us started on it downstairs as well.
GENTLE JAR:
When Ms Michele sees a gentle hand and nice gesture to friends, the gentle friend could get a love heart and place it into our special jar. When we fill the special jar, we can have a special party! (G)
RAIN PAINTING
: This week is set to be a rainy week. To take advantages of the natural force of rain, we will add some tempera paints of children's choice on the watercolour paper, and bring it outside to create painting only using the force of rain water! :check:
