Biotechnology
Cloning
Cons- When cloning the animal or human you clone can have health problems. The clone can also have birth defects.
Pros- Cloning can be used for body parts, blood, and tissue. If you do this you can get exact body parts to match yours.
Pros- If you and your loved one can't have a baby then you can clone two cells and make one. It is a very effective process.
Cons- Another con for cloning is cellular degradation. Everytime you clone someone or something the embryo degrades. (Gets less accurate)
GMOs
Con- GMOs have an antibacterial resistance which basically makes them resistant to certain antibiotics. When we eat a food that has GMOs the resistance can pass to us.
Pro- When making GMOs it is an easier process. GMOs have a heat, cold, and drought resistance and are easier to grow.
Con- GMOs haven't been proven safe for humans yet and is still undergoing testing. Scientists have not yet studied long term effects of eating GMOs.
Pro- When producing GMOs you can have a larger crop yield and profit pretty well. Producing GMOs is also great source of food since it has a larger crop yield.
Bioremediation
Con- Bioremediation is very hard to manage. The organisms need an environment with perfect temperature, Ph level, and amount of oxygen.
Con- One con with bioremediation is that the process is very complex. Also with bioremediation, there is a lot of unknown and many challenges.
Pro- Bioremediation is completely natural almost no human interaction. The process is very clean and does not harm the environment.
Pro- Bioremediation can clean soil and make it effective and have very few impurities. Dirty soil can go clean very quickly with this process.
Artificial selection
Con- A con for artificial selection is that you could make a unwanted mutation of a plant or animal. The mutations could kill humans when they try to eat them. The mutations could also make the plants or animals more susceptible to diseases.
Pro- One pro of Artificial selection is that it can produce quality humans. Artificial selection can better humans lives. We can use the technology on animals. If we do this we can make faster producing chickens and even plants.
Con- Another con is that a artificially altered human or animal can have a shorter life span. Health problems can occur when modifying genes.
Pro- Another pro is that it can make lots of profit and we could have more resources. If we changed chickens or cows genes they could produce food faster and make more of a profit.
