Acromegaly
Definition
A disorder in adult in which the pituitary gland produces too much growth hormone
Pathophysiology
•
Caused by growth hormone (GH) secreting pituitary adenomas
•
The pituitary adenomas lead to hypersecretion of the GH from the somatotroph cells
