Why does this Event Matter? The event matters because the fourteenth amendment states that all people have rights to equal protection, education and healthcare. In this act, the black children were not experiencing equality in the places provided for them by the court who said they would be granted and treated equally in their services. The movement was so that no matter their race, language, ethnicity and language, they would be able to learn and experience life just as the whites were allowed to.

Brown Vs Board Education

Brown Vs Board education was a 1954 event that the Supreme Court ruled that public school segregation between blacks and whites was unconstitutional. Unfortunately, they deemed that blacks could not go to a white school but they will be treated equally; however, whenever a plaintiff named Oliver Brown filed a class action suit against the Board of Education of Topeka because the black children were not getting equal treatment as the white children, the chief justice leader Warren wrote that "in the field of public education, separate but equal has no means" and the court ruled that the plaintiffs were being stripped away from their fourteenth amendment that stated they had just as much equal protection that whites did.
