Temporary Resident Visa(TRV)
A required foreign nationals must apply for a temporary resident visa (TRV) to travel to Canada as

Practical tips:
it is not required to apply for a TRV separately upon application for a work or study permit
TRV-Allow entry Canada; Status-Allow stay in Canada
The expiry date of a TRV is the date by which the visa must be used to arrive at the port of entry (POE) and seek admission to Canada.
TRV exempt:
US green card holders
Where and How Visa are made?
Initial TRV applications can only be process by visa offices abroad
No TRV applications at the ports of entry
A paper based visa application can be made to a migration office (via VAC) that servers the country in which the applicant is present and has been lawfully admitted
FN who have a valid study permit or work permit in Canada can apply for a new visa in case processing centre(CPC) in Ottawa
ETA may be required

Temporary Resident Visas fee exempt
296(c) a person who is a member of the clergy, a member of a religious order or a lay person who is to assist a congregation or a group in the achievement of its spiritual goals
296(g) a person who is seeking to enter Canada for a period of less than 48 hours and who is
(i) travelling by transporter’s vehicle to a destination other than Canada, or
296(a) a properly accredited diplomat, consular officer, representative or official of a country other than Canada,
implied status
during the " implied status" , the foreign national cannot leave and re-enter Canada. If they leave Canada, they will lose their implied status, and they will no longer have any status in Canada (R 186(U) and 189
If the extension application is submitted before temporary status expiry date, the foreign national will have implied status until the decision is made

A

Visa (TRVs) are entry documents which foreign national use to
enter
Canada, while
status
documents like visitors records, study permits and work permits, confirm that foreign nations have status in Canada.
Most people need a visa OR an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to travel to Canada – not both. Some people may only need their valid passport.
Biometrics
Generally, you need to give biometrics if you apply for:
an extension of your stay in Canada, known as visitor record
*A work or study permit extension
Foreign nationals may be required to give biometrics
Exemptions:
1) Ages: <14 years; >79 years
2) US Nations
3) Visa-exempt foreign nations who require an electronic travel authorization and seek to enter or remain in Canada
as visitors are exempt from the biometrics requirement.
4) US Transit those holding a valid US. non-immigrant visa and applying for a TRV to transit to Canada for less than 48 hours directly to or from the U.S are exempt from biometrics requirement
Medical Examination

Whether a foreign national must conduct a medical examiniation is based on
where he has continuously resided during the last year,
not his citizenship and
how long they plan to spend in Canada
Temporary Resident Permit (TRPs)
TRP is given when a fridge national is inadmissible
To obtain a TRP, the foreign national's entry/stay in Canada must outweigh the health or safety risks to Canadian society
Another alternative for someone criminally inadmissible may be application for rehabilitation
The processing fee is $200
The questions concerning criminal and health inadmissibility:
1) had tuberculosis of the lungs
2) Have any physical or mental disorder that would require social and health service
3) have you ever committed, been arrested for, been charged with or convicted with any criminal offence in any country

If visitor status is granted at POE, there is no processing fee
