The liver, brain, eyes and other organs can be affected and potentially cause death.

The two drugs that are used to remove copper are D-penicillamine (Cuprimine) and trientine (Syprine). They can neurological effects on the patient.
Diagnosis:
-Physical examination to examine liver disease and neurological function.
- A light is used to examine a patient's eyes for Kayser-Fleischer (present in liver damage)
- Lab tests
-Liver biopsy
Treatment: medication to absorb copper, low copper diet (eggs), and liver transplant.
