Pharmacological treatment
water restriction
antibiotics and diuretics
sodium chloride
Demeclocycline drug use, to suppress vosopresin
PHATHOPYSIOLOGY
If water intake exceeds the reduced urine output
the ensuing water retention leads to the
caused by the inability to suppress the secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH)
development of hyponatremia.
(SIADH) is a disorder of impaired water excretion
Causes
Meningitis
Lung diseases
Brain tumors
Certain medications
Sings and symptoms
headache, confusion
weakness and fatigue
nausea and vomiting
Surgery
pituitary surgery
Nursing intervention
monitor intake and out put of the patient
should receive appropriate nutritional counseling
monitor hydration status of the patient
prevent further development of the condition
Diet therapy
fluid restriction
high sodium intake
a high protein intake
fruits and vegetables
Diagnostic test
exclusion of other causative conditions
medical history and physical examination
assessment of a hyponatremic state
blood and urine tests
risk factors
Heart, kidney and liver problems
Syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone (SIADH)
Certain medications
Chronic, severe vomiting or diarrhea
Hormonal changes.
nursing care plan
Measure the liquid electrolyte is not balanced
Prevent complications
Fluid restriction (control the possibility of excess fluid)
Looking for the cause if possible
Sodium restriction
complications
Noncardiogenic pulmonary edema may develop
CPM is the feared complication of excessive
overly rapid correction of hyponatremia.
Cerebral edema may be observed
