reunification campaigns enforced control, three separate PLA armies were dispatched west and south:

anti-movements: extending political control. targeted waste, corruption, and inefficiency. 1950-51. in 1951 it extended into the 5 anti-movement, which focused on economy: industrial sabotage, tax evasion, bribery, fraud, theft of gov' property

, they were too close to ignore it. Mao hoped to gain Soviet military support and equipment id he agreed to fight the US in Korea. When US invaded Korea it was seen as an imperialist action, China would only intervene if they reached into North Korea. on Oct 1950 US forces crossed northwards, China officially announced involvement in the Korean War.
