The southern states felt that Lincoln was against slavery and also against the South.
He managed to get elected without even being on the ballot in ten of the southern states.

The south relied on slaves because they had lots of farming and they lived and made all there profit on the things they made or grew.
The North did not relie on slaves there industry did not have enouph farming and etc for them
