BCG Vaccine
BCG can only be administered by authorised vaccinators. One of the students preceptors was an Authorised Vaccinator. BCG is a vaccine that is primarily used against Tuberculosis.

Cold Chain
The PHN is responsible for the management of the Cold Chain process. Which ensure that all vaccines are stored at the allowable ranges which are between 2°C to 8°C and they remain between this range when they are being transported for administration.

Oral Contraception
PHN with prescribing rights are able to start an Adolescent on the Oral Contraception if they have suggested they have had or are thinking about being sexually active.
Depo Provera
Is another form of contraception that a PHN can provide. Depo Provera is an Intramuscular Injection that is administered every 12 weeks.

Mass Immunisation
Boostrix (Year 7)
Boostrix's is an immunisation against Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis.
The Boostrix Immunisation is given to an adolescent when they reach the age of 11, as this is when the adolescent's body is most receptive to this vaccine.

Immunisation Talks
A Ministry of Health requirement is that PHN are required to provide Immunisation talks to their allocated school before handing the consent forms out.
Community Practice
School Clinics

High Schools throughout NZ are allocated a PHN. The PHN runs a free Clinic in the high school usually once a week offering a range of different services including sexual health and health concerns that a student may have.

Home Visits
PHN provide home visits as a way of catching up with pre-exisiting patients or following up referrals.

Every year 9 student that is enrolled in a School that is decile 5 or under is required to have a HEEASSS Assessment completed.
