Chapter 8
Probability sampling: is a method in which every unit in the population has a probability (non-zero ) of being chosen in the sample, and this likelihood can be accurately determined.
-
*Systematic sampling: the sampling frame is ordered according to some criteria and elements are selected at regular intervals through that ordered list
Stratified sampling: its separated into homogeneous and non-overlapping smaller group (strata) and a simple random sample is taken within each subgroup
Cluster sampling: When populations are divided into clusters a random sample of a few clusters, are measured.
-
-
Sampling: is the statistical method of choosing a “sample” of a population of interest for purposes of making observations and statistical conclusions about that population.
-
-
-
Non-Probability Sampling: a testing technique in which some units of the population have zero probability of selection or where the chance of selection cannot be precisely determined.
Convenience sampling : this is a method in which a sample is drawn from that part of the population that is close to hand, easily available, or accessible
Expert sampling: respondents are chosen in a non-random manner based on their expertise on the phenomenon being studied
Statistics of Sampling
-
Confidence interval: estimated probability that a population parameter lies within a specific interval of sample statistic values:
