Dip a nichrome wire loop into dilute hydrochloric acid and place it into a blue flame to clean it, then sip it into the lithium compound. Then place the wire into the blue Bunsen Burner flame. The colour of the flame should be red
Sodium
Dip a nichrome wire loop into dilute hydrochloric acid and place it into a blue flame to clean it, then sip it into the sodium compound. Then place the wire into the blue Bunsen Burner flame. The colour of the flame should be yellow
Potassium
Dip a nichrome wire loop into dilute hydrochloric acid and place it into a blue flame to clean it, then sip it into the potassium compound. Then place the wire into the blue Bunsen Burner flame. The colour of the flame should be lilac
Calcium
Dip a nichrome wire loop into dilute hydrochloric acid and place it into a blue flame to clean it, then sip it into the calcium compound. Then place the wire into the blue Bunsen Burner flame. The colour of the flame should be red/orange
Copper
