Definition

Is an oral antidiabetic agent that act primarily by decreasing insulin resistance. It is a drug that is found under the group thiazolidinedions. It trade name is called Actos.

Route

Actos is taken orally once daily and maybe taken without regards to meals.

Indications

Actos is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycolic control in patients with type2 diabetes

Actos is indicated for monotherapy

Actos is also indicated for use in combination to use with a sulfonylurea, metformin, or insulin when diet and exercise plus the single agent does not result in adequate glycaemic control.
