Overall, I believe the event brought a positive change for the minority group because the positives outweigh the negatives. The Safe Third Country agreement act may make it difficult for Indians to immigrate to Canada, but since 2011, about 160 000 Indian immigrants have immigrated to Canada, which is only second behind the Philippines. There are some very similar policies present today that caused the Komagata Maru incident to happen, but the fact that Indians are still able to immigrate and prosper in Canada shows that it is not too big of a barrier. Also, this event was one of the bigger reasons why the Continuous Passage Regulation Act was terminated in 1947. This has not only made it easier for Indians to immigrate to Canada, but all other immigrant groups as well.
