It was 1862 the middle of the union war in america. My name Thomas P Bacon, I was a slave until I escaped, for life back on the plantations was hard on Roberts Tobacco plantation. Everyday I got whipped and beaten everyday sometimes for no reason. The hardest moment was when I had to leave my wife and daughter back to those evil slave owners, but I couldn't turn back; I had to keep going for my family, so one day I could free them from that horrible place and live in peace for once in our life.
