Insulin lispro (HumaLog)
A rapid-acting form of insulin used to treat type 1 and type 2 diabetes .
Mechanism of action
Conversion of glucose to glycogen
Indirectly increases blood pyruvate and lactate
Transport glucose into cells
Decreases phosphate and potasium
Decreases hepatic glucose production
Contraindications
Hypokalemia
Cresol hypersensitivity
Hypoglycemia
Diarrhoea
Neonates,pregnancy
Renal failure
Renal impairment
Side effects
Low potassium levels in the blood
Life-threatening allergic reactions
Low blood sugar
Nose or throat infection
Weight gain
Storage
Store unused in a refrigerator at 2°C-8°C
Do not freeze
Do not use HumaLog that has been frozen
