PRANDIAL GLUCOSE REGULATORS
Definition
These are regulators that deal with the rise in the circulating glucose that occurs immediately after a meal.
Mechanism of action
Both drugs are quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
It works by restoring early-phase insulin release
Replaginide stimulates insulin release from the pancrease in the same way as sulphonylureas orally.
Clinical use
Omitted if the meal is missed
Before meal they are taken
Adverse effects
Lactic acidosis
Abdominal pain
Anorexia and nausea are troublesome
Vomiting and shock
Side effects
Digestive issues
Muscle pain
Tiredness
Storage
Store it at about 20 to 25 degrees celcius and that is at room temperature
