The p-value obtained was 1.42647222005109E-08. The null hypothesis was rejected in favor of the hypothesis. There is a positive linear relationship between the average body masses and average basal metabolic rates for all species of organisms in the Kingdom Anamalia. The equations to describe the relationship between average body mass and average basal metabolic rates for the experimental organisms, all species of organisms in the Kingdom Animalia, and the control organisms, birds and mammals, are respectively y=.0006x+3.4804, y=.0031x+.03378, and y=.0007x+2.7671. These positive linear relationship can be seen in Figure 1-3. The the coefficient of determination for the experimental organisms, all species of organisms in the Kingdom Animalia, and the control organisms, birds and mammals, are respectively 0.6033, 0.9235, and 0.841. The information was obtained using various numbers of organisms per each data set. The amount of species in the data set containing all species of organisms from the Kingdom Animalia consisted of 400 different organisms after removing some outliers. For the controls, birds and mammals, the amount of species in the data sets respectively were 65 and 296 after removing some outliers.
