Parts of a Sentence
Object
Direct Object :
An object in a sentence which is affected directly by the verb, can be modified by adjectives (I gave Mike roses for our anniversary, After work I walked home, We spent yesterday hunting and camping
Indirect Object
An object in a sentence which is affected by the verb indirectly or is what the preposition or prepositional phrase is directed at, can be modified by adjectives (I gave Mike roses for our anniversary, I left money in my purse, I lost my phone on the subway
Subject
The subject is the main thing (who/what) in a sentence, typically a noun, and is what the verb is affecting as well as what the object has relation to mainly found at the beginning of a sentence, can be modified by adjectives
Pronoun
A pronoun is used to replace a noun, usually to make a sentence more concise, after the noun has already been established (He left earlier, Brenda isn't here but she left you a note, They don't know what to do right now)
Noun
A noun is a person, place or thing that is the part of the sentence being talked about, typically the main point of the sentence (Sally likes cake, New York is a beautiful city, Artistry is best enjoyed with friends)
Action
Verb
A word that describes an action that the subject performs on a direct object or link together the subject and object in some other form, is modified by adverbs (Alex is a fine man, I found myself walking back to her house again, He typed out another example for verb)
Preposition
A word or phrase that describes what relation an indirect object has to the subject, it is typically introduced after a verb (She left it on the table, I went to dinner after work, I came by myself but left with friends)
Adjective
A word that modifies a noun by describing it's features (The blue bus just arrived, I found a bigger cat over here, Let's go get a few burgers
Adverb
A word that modifies a verb by describing how it was done (I quickly ran over to him, We all finished our homework effortlessly, He often takes breaks but he gets everything done on time
