- - - - Water is composed of 2 hydrogen atom that have single covalent bonds with the oxygen atom.
        
        Water is polar because the shared electrons between H and O aren't shared equally. The shared electrons are more attracted to the O side of the molecule. This makes water molecules have a positively charged side or pole and a negatively charged side
        
        The positive side of water is the hydrogen side, because most of the time the electrons aren't here
        
        The negative of water is the oxygen side, because most of the time the electrons are here
- - - - as a water molecule speeds up (gets hot) other water molecules slow it down through hydrogen/polar bonding.
    - - the hydrogen bonds (positive H of one molecule bonds with negative O of another water molecule) between water molecules at the surface are stronger than those below the surface creating a barrier.
