Water and pH
-
pH
-
Water is 7 on the pH scale because in pure water 1 out of 10,000,000 water molecules splits into and H+ ion and an OH - ions. pH7 log of concentration ions. Concentration ions 1/10,000,000 = 10^7. Multiply by -1^10.

Definition of Buffers
buffers are molecules that donate or accept protons to resist changes in pH as acids or bases are added to the solution. A buffer consists of a weak acid and its conjugate base, or a weak base and its conjugate acid
Cohesion
-
High Specific Heat
-
because when 1 water molecule starts to heat up by moving faster other molecules will slow it down through Hydrogen Bonding
-
-
Adhesion
-
Universal Solvent
Since water is polar it stick to other polar molecules. Enables it to pry off other molecules in a solid. Does this through Diffusion.
Capillarity Action
-
this happens because water attracts to the sides of the tube. Then through Cohesion brings up more water molecules. The smaller the tube the more water molecules it can bring up.
