in Social Sciences, everyone takes on a PT role - not commonly the case in the rest of GSBS
Difficult to understand what the roles of PT are, and other roles - there is some guidance, Year Tutor set out in a handbook in SCEBE etc
Role of PT should be more holistic than going through individual feedback - more holistic, about the experience of being a student
Capacity and workload is an issue
Student engagement, progression and retention is a priority - PT would have a role in this
Need to ensure we don't lose anything from the current responsibilities of PTs as listed in the current guidance
Student wellbeing coach or similar role in the Schools?
Role of Programme Coordinators - used to have a key role in signposting, administrative queries, potentially some pastoral elements
Resource limitations are impacting ability to be proactive
There should be a named academic contact for the programme (or group of students)

Not a consistent approach in every programme
Year Tutor (sometimes also the PT for that cohort) - not always consistent, some are more active than others
Students go to whoever they think will be able to help - don't care who it is
YTs are likely to be involved in teaching, will meet students at induction etc

Check "How do I" website and how the role of PT is communicated to students (not ADSL webpage which is mainly for staff?) - move this to intranet?
Remove the detailed responsibilities from the website and focus on communicating key contacts to students
Go-to services in Student Life
ML if concerned about assessment, technical, specific academic enquiry
PL for programme-level queries
Guidance and training/development for personal tutors (and potentially all teaching-active academic staff?) on roles and responsibilities, student journey and referrals
Consider a business case to investigate AI-supported signposting / support (is in Student Life plan but for 2025/26)
Develop a clear visual guide for referrals and signposting
