The Dutch arrived in 1652, and created Cape town, the first permanent European settlement to supply ships sailing to or from the East Indies.Dutch farmers, called Boers settled around Cape Town, and eventually killed or enslaved the people there. The Boers believed that they were chosen ones, Calvinists.
