Life Science Genes and Molecular Machines
Types of Cells
Eukarytotic
Have membrane bound organelles.
Can be single or multi celled organisms
Prokaryotic
Dont have membrane bound organelles.
Single celled organism
Heredity
Phenotype
The physical appearance of an organism.
Based on genotype.
Genotype
The genetic makeup of an organism.
Tells what phenotype will be.
Cell Division
Meiosis
Meiosis is a type of cell division that replicates cells in order to create fours sex cells. The process contains 11 stages, Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, Prophase ll, Metaphase ii, Anaphase ll, and Telophase ll.
Results in four daughter cells
Mitosis
Consists of six stages, Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, then Telophase. The process is used to replicate body cells.
Results in two daughter cells.
Flowering Plants and Seeds
Self pollination
Form of asexual reproduction
Pollen from one flower is transported to the stigma of the same flower.
Cross Pollination
Pollinator takes pollen from one flower and takes it to another flower.
Form of sexual reproduction
