Lincoln’s Rise to power
Abraham Lincoln (Republican Party) contested the 1860 Presidential election, which them lead to the future of slavery a primary discussion point for many citizens during the campaign

Lincoln was voted in twice but after 5 days of being president for a second time he was shoot in the head at a theater by a gun man from the south (this happened after the civil war ended). Lincoln has been seen as the best president in US history due to many reason as a result of the civil war and along with the way that he ended slavery in the south.
Rise of Lincoln
His election was a direct catalyst for states seceding, which started the Civil War (though fighting only started 5 months later)
Lincoln won in none of the Southern states but won overall (this sparked stronger tension between the different states in the way that they believe that some on for and for not slavery should have been in power.
10 Southern states refused to even list Lincoln on the ballot ( which would now days been seen as illegal was seen to not bee talked about in other states)

Most Southerners sore him as an abolitionist (someone who was in power to get rid of slavery) and on the end of ending slavery.
