shingles can take place in the face (if the infected are cranial nerves) or body (if the infected are the dorsal root ganglion)
the initial infection is the chicken pox (varecilla zoster) systemic , if it become latent in cranial nerves or dorsal nerve ganglion it might come back as (herpes zoster) more severe pain and localized in specific dermatomes
